Jonathan Sells is an exceptional teacher, able to adapt his teaching to suit the requirements of his students.

He works easily with children, adults, individuals and groups.

He combines the precision skills of a stonemason with the artistic intuition of a sculptor and so is able to instruct and guide his students along whichever path they choose to follow. By sharing his knowledge and passion for carving, Jonathan has inspired me and many others to explore this exciting art-form. Jennifer Wearden

Whether you want to work large or small, carve lettering, reliefs or perhaps get stuck into a more ambitious three-dimensional piece Jonathan will help you achieve your dreams and yes… your friends will be impressed but even better so will you!

His classes are always fun without being frivolous and although learning is a serious business it’s easy to pick up a lot of knowledge when you’re enjoying yourself. Time passes quickly and all too soon it seems it’s time to pack up… but then your are looking forward to the next class. Jeremy Calderwood

Last month I attended one of Jonathan’s beginner stone carving workshops, which I found both enjoyable and relaxing. The small group size was ideal as there was much to learn. We chose a design and a suitable piece of Portland stone, then learnt how to handle the tools and undertook a practice piece before commencing our own design. Jonathan started with the basics then progressed to more complex carving techniques. My piece now has pride of place on the mantelpiece. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Jonathan as an enthusiastic and talented teacher and I hope to be able to attend further workshops in future. Liz
